Tom's Visit - With Lots of Cake!

We had a nice visit with Tom, and started off our meals as soon as he got off the plane with a fine dinner at El Patio. Instead of my usual Number 3 with Queso, I opted for the Perkins Special taco, which is the regular taco with queso smothered on top. We had nacho appetizers ("best in Austin" Mom says), so even with only one Perkins Special I was satisfied, and as you know I always like to save "family money" so my meal was inexpensive. Tom and some of the others had expensive margaritas, but he was on vacation so that's OK. Friday night we had a combined birthday dinner for me and April and had hot dish, salads, and a great cake that Jack made. Saturday morning we had breakfast at Mom's, and as the picture indicates, we are not afraid to have cake after breakfast (Tom is pointing out the box score of the Red Sox game to me, but I'm more interested in the camera). Saturday night we had Bar-B-Que at Ginny and Jack's, which was excellent and gave us a chance to finish off the birthday cake. We had a great weekend!

Mom's Back!

Mom's back and we went to breakfast last Sunday. As you can tell, I was pretty happy about that. This morning we had breakfast with Amanda before she goes off on her trip to South America. We're looking forward to a visit from Tom this week - I'm confident there will be meals involved.

Send Food!

Mom is in Kansas this weekend visiting Karl to see the bunkhouse and to watch the annual prairie burn.

The last time I was in Kansas, Karl made the best brats. I wonder if he's going to make brats this weekend.

I should have gone to Kansas.

Busy Easter Weekend

We had a busy Easter weekend with many meals at Mom's. We had breakfast both Saturday and Sunday, and of course a big dinner today for Easter. The scalloped potatoes were replaced by a different potato dish, which concerned me greatly, but they turned out really good. Today is also Jim's birthday, so we had cake and ice cream to go along with all the candy. I sat on the wrong side of the dinner table and had to dole out the ice cream, but such are the sacrifices one makes. Note Gerry's location - the poor guy was unable to help at all! In his defense, he does the dishes very well.
