Amanda's 25th Birthday

Last week was Amanda's 25th birthday and we had a big turnout at Mom's. We had a fancy cake with strawberries and chocolate icing. We had so many people at dinner we had to arrange the tables diagonally in the dining room. Fortunately, there was plenty of food.

St. Patrick's Day Breakfast

There is an unwritten law that you can't have breakfast if you don't go swimming. I didn't go swimming this morning, but Ginny and Jack and Mom and Nancy did. Unwritten laws were meant to be broken.

Mary and Clay Visit

It seems like a long time since I've had a meal at Mom's, but I sure made up for it this weekend. We went swimming Saturday and Sunday morning and had a fine breakfast both days at Mom's. Ginny and Jack made their famous eggs on Saturday, and of course we had bacon and all the other good stuff. Saturday night we had dinner with Mary and Clay after the regional premiere of "The King of Kong", the movie Clay edited and co-produced. The movie was excellent, and you don't have to be a video game enthusiast to enjoy it. We had quite a crowd at dinner Saturday night and cleaned out an excellent batch of Mom's hot dish (not the chicken pasta one - the beef rice one). This afternoon we went to Art's Rib House and feasted on ribs and brisket. I felt I was part of the "in" crowd, because the director and crew and star of the movie joined us for lunch. No one asked me for an autograph, but that's what's cool about Austin - the locals leave the celebrities alone.
